EF (full-frame) lenses have a red dot, EF-S (APS-C sensor) lenses have a white dot. The EF-S lenses extend further into the camera body so will NOT mount to an EF TC. I have no problems mounting the Sigma 1.4 and 2.0 TCs to my (EF mount) Sigma 70-200 2.8 for use on my 500D but the TCs are useless on my (EF-S) kit lenses and my 60mm macro. On a Sony A7Rii body, MC-11 adapter and Canon 70-200 4.0 IS L, 70-300 L, 100-400 II L & 100 2.8 Macro USM, AF works well (or at least as well as the lenses do without an extender). Not used extensively yet, so plenty of time for any glitches to come out.
This tele extender can be used with fixed focal length lenses 135mm and longer (except the 135mm f/2.8 Softfocus lens), and the EF 70-200 f/2.8L, 70-200 f/2.8L IS, 70-200 f/4.0L, and 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS zoom lenses. Superb optically, it preserves the image quality of the lens it's mounted to and multiplies its focal length 1.4x.
The Canon EF 1.4x II Extender is an easy and very affordable way to noticeably extend the reach (focal length) of compatible Canon L Series lenses (and a few additional lenses). The Canon EF 1.4x II Extender mounts between the compatible lens and body, and multiplies the focal length settings of your lens by 1.4x. Solution Usable lenses: *: Using an Extender with this lens may result in incorrect autofocus. If your camera has an AF microadjustment function, do the AF microadjustment.

That Kenko 1.4x works well with my 7D II and 100-400 II. Since Dave says it works, you'll be fine. The IQ of the Kenko converter is good, the Canon may be a tick better but that's splitting hairs. One advantage should be the additional focus points.

Note: Kenko TELEPLUS PRO300 DGX teleconverters are compatible with only proprietary lenses (Nikon and Canon) and Tokina lenses (except Tokina AT-X 70-200 F4 FX VCM-S and opera 50mm F1.4 FF Nikon mount). Other manufacturers' lens and camera models, or side-party adapters, are not supported.

The T CINE Speed Booster ULTRA 0.71x Adapter from Metabones allows a Canon EF-mount lens to be mounted onto a camera with a FUJIFILM X-mount. The adapter's optics maximize the connected lens's apparent angle of view by a factor of 0.71x while providing a one-stop increase for the camera over the lens's aperture range. More Details.

Even with a 1.4X TC III its image quality is on par with the best Sigma and Tamron have to offer, and without a TC its image quality is unmatched, except by the EF 70-200 f/2.8L IS II. Add to that a short minimum focus distance and the EF 100-400 L IS II is the best lens in the 100-560mm range.
I think you would be better off with the RF 800mm prime compared to the 100-500 with a teleconverter. The prime would focus faster and more accurately. For that price I would take the f/11 fixed aperture.. With either setup, your available AF points will no longer cover edge to edge. You will probab
