1998V70 will have a similar engine management, 1999-2000 is much different. The diesel engineers overbuilt the first whiteblock found in the 850. There's no better engine than the 2.3L 5 cyl found in the 850, and imo it's worth getting the turbo but I *think* the non turbo is as good but without potential turbo problems. Topspeed of 230. 300 horsepower 45km on a charge, enough to go around town. This thing is a monster, it can beat 95% of cars in a traffic light sprint. and it only uses 1l of diesel for 30 km on normal day use. Not surprisingly, none of the reasons appeal to a car enthusiast moreso than your average consumer.
Imnot trying to hate on new Volvos, i bet theyre good cars. But the company is owned by a Chinese car manufacturer and Volvo seems to have lost the spirit it once had. Thecar is by far the most comfortable car i have ever driven, it’s fast, it has great audio, and is one of the few cars that i think looks really really good and classy while also looking ugly to me which i actually really enjoyed. it seems like i hated this car but i actually kind of fell in love with it over time and it put me on to volvos C30is a luxury car. Agood example: The Brembo brake rotors for our V70R are ~$800 in a Volvo box (dealer price), $200 in the aftermarket from the OE supplier, but the discs are actually made by Centric for Brembo and Volvo and those are ~$40.
